Late-night host Stephen Colbert has signed to play rapper Lil’ Wayne, and the project is described as a joint venture between the two artists.
The project is based on Wayne’s autobiography, Wayne’s Life and Death: My Life in the Game.
“Lil Wayne is an extremely gifted and versatile talent with an incredible voice and incredible story to tell,” said Colbert in a statement.
“I’m excited to join him and our team as part of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which will be airing in December.”
Wayne is best known for being the lead singer of the Wu-Tang Clan and the producer of the “Dancing with the Stars” series.
He is currently on tour with the Wu.
“When I got the chance to do a rap album with someone like Lil Wayne, I knew it would be an incredible opportunity,” said Drake.
“We’ve been friends for a long time, so it was a no-brainer to work together.”
Colbert said he had been talking with Wayne about collaborating on his upcoming project.
“He and I had a mutual friend that’s been working with him for a while,” he said.
“They’ve been trying to put together a project together, and they found the right partner for this.”
Colbert’s appearance on “The Late Late Show” on January 28 will be his first appearance on the Late Late Late Night.
He has hosted the show since 2003.
