A billboard on a Tokyo street that proclaims the United States as the largest is the first step toward bringing the nation’s largest company to Tokyo for a series of global events.
The billboard, by artist Taki Takashi, also features the U.S. flag and the phrase “The United States is Bigger Than Any Other Country.”
The company, which was founded by William J. and Mary University professor Donald J. Trump, plans to bring the billboard to Tokyo in late June for its Tokyo 2020 Olympics opening ceremony.
The U.K.-based company has been pushing its global brand with the Tokyo 2020 bid since last year, including by putting the flag and U.N. slogan on billboards across the globe.
In Japan, where the U and UK flags have been prominently displayed for nearly a century, the Trump-branded banner, with the slogan “Make America Great Again,” was unveiled in a public square in central Tokyo last week.
The company said in a statement that it will use the banner in its promotional campaign for the Tokyo Olympics.
